Seems like the double charging is now capped if not over. Given the recent discussions here on tipping, this is a very good thing as they are required to pay $15/h wage. Who cares? They'll just raise the percentage they take from each order and the restaurants will raise what they charge on the apps. The money has to come from somewhere. Legislating stuff like this is stupid.
There is an old story in China, a wealthy business person lost his wealth and have to ration food for his pet monkies. He offered to give them 3 chestnut in the morning and 4 in the afternoon. Monkies were not happy. So he offered 4 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon. And they lived happily ever after.
Legislators for some reason think these companies are charity organizations and that they won't do anything about it π€¦πΌββοΈAfter a certain point, they'll just threaten to exit the city and everyone will be screwed and then another prop 22 will happen and that'll pass. Why don't they reduce the rents for restaurants etc in situations like a pandemic if they really want to help.
Commies be stupid...

Either the delivery person or customers are gonna be affected by this If delivery fees is capped, companies will start charging more from restaurants which in turn will increase the prices on menu. Or else decrease the cut for delivery person. At the end, it is a business and if the expectation is that a company will operate by facing a loss on each order then it is the wrong expectation.
