I just wanted to share my story as an encouragement to other product designers who are considering leaving their current company. About 3 months ago Instagram hit me with a targeted ad, advertising Blind. I immediately joined and was completely shocked at the openness of people willing to share their salaries and what their day to day experience is. I was also shocked to realize that I was significantly underpaid for my experience (over 10 years of product design experience) I made my portfolio, asked for some referrals on blind and almost every place I applied I got interviews for. I made it to 2 finals rounds (after declining to continue on several) and made my decision to work at #Twilio. Old TC: 140k New TC: 300k Thank you Blind community! This is life changing for myself and my family. #design #ui/ux #interviews
Awesome! Now pay it forward. Introduce people to Blind. The more people/data we have, the more objective decisions we can make
I hope it’s not the LinkedIn folks who come here
I hope they do. People have to be too polite on Linkedin. On blind though, as soon as they post something cringy, citizen of Blind will immediately tear them a new asshole and they will learn their lessons 😀. And perhaps they will learn to not do that on LinkedIn too.
Congrats! Is that staff level?
I don’t think so actually. It’s an L4
Yeah, L4 is staff for Twilio. That’s a really strong offer though, I hadn’t applied before because Levels shows a lot lower than that. What’s the breakdown of base, stock, bonus?
Congrats! Is at in a HCOL location?
No actually! Very LCOL
That’s good to know! I’m in a MCOL area and trying to get a good sense of salaries for design outside of Seattle and SF
Designers making more money FTW! Great job!
What's your YOE? Would you mind sharing your portfolio? Just starting to put together my portfolio and curious to know what they're looking for.
Sure, DM me
Yea is it ok if I do this as well?? I have 10 yrs of experience in another design field and trying to break into UX. Also, congratulations!!
Congrats! In a few months definitely share how you like working at Twilio :)
@op I have twilio design interview coming up , can you give out some tips for the manager and final round?
Sure. DM me
Dmd ❤️
Which other company did you make it to the final round at? I’m starting to ramp up applying and interviewing again, so it’s nice to know that people are still having great luck! Congrats!
That’s awesome! Congratulations!
