I'm a covid hire. Probably I was able to join Meta when they lowered the bar to over-hire. Before, I didn't believe there would be a layoff at Meta, and that didn't age well https://www.teamblind.com/post/Dont-believe-in-upcoming-Meta-layoff-uRSSHDxm But I was not 100% wrong though, it's just that my view wasn't wide enough. My team was not affected by layoff (probably also my org). Some got promotions and EE/GE ratings. Job security is never an issue to me. I have that confidence from my manager, who never worries about Zuck's flattening etc. I joined when stock was 270, so stock crash hit me hard. But with ~200k refresher (for E5) every year, my TC is still around 380k (down from ~450k). It's very hard for me to find another job with similar TC. Before Meta, my TC was only 150k. I never sit more than 7 hours at my desk, but there are some f@cking hard problems that bother me all the time, even when I just walk on the park. But I enjoy the problems. Make this post after seeing so many negative posts about Meta. Just to let you know there are still many people drinking too much kool-aid like me :)
Are you a HW engineer? What org are you in?
SWE
Yeah between 175k and 220k refresher would be pretty normal
For E5?
Yep E5. As SWE in US that is, less for most everyone else
Pretty similar here except for no hard problems :(
probably only hard for me and not for others, the bar was low when I joined ;)
I’m a data engineer, so my only hard problems are “where do I find data for X”, “how does the tool Y work” or “who should I talk to in order to move forward with my project”.
If TikTok gets banned you'll have Golden handcuffs for life
Wow at the refreshers. How much average for E4?
~100k
I work long hours for much lesser money at MSFT. I should ⚓ LC and jump 🚢
Fuck. Back in the days was getting only 230k as e6 for meets and exceeds
Boomerang when hiring freeze is lifted :)
Too late. Was hoping to join when stock was $100. Know a few who did. Lucky bustards

The job market is absolutely brutal right now
200k refresher is normal? I’m getting half that for the same level
