WORST LEADERSHIP ever. CEO doesn’t want to take a pay cut but want to have people without jobs and pay. Never prepared people for layoffs. Amazon sure did a better job than Dropbox. Apparently they laid off people so the focus can be on AI but they want people to ship laptops to wipe them off LOL. #severance #layoff #dropbox #worstleadership
Sad to say, but that’s how layoff works...
Would you have preferred how Meta told people that layoffs were coming in 6 weeks and then go silent on it? What kind of preparation are you expecting?
He wants to be coddled
To be clear, this is also what Amazon did.
Time to replace the CEO with AI.
You shall write this post to CNN.
Had a all hands meeting on calendar but cancelled it and sent an email out. He also mentioned that dbx was all good for the next couple quarters without layoffs
Who believes a CEO ? You must be new.
I believe it was just yesterday that someone from Dropbox posted here that they got a generous severance package like 6 months of health insurance and 4 months of salary. What else do you need to be prepared for your next job?
Here's the post. Even you get to keep the office equipments like laptop. Is this not true? Dropbox after layoff - keep the equipments (Tech Industry) https://us.teamblind.com/s/F5GXwdBs
16 weeks + 1 week of year tenure, accelerated vesting for next date, 6 months healthcare, etc. It could be worse, but it is better than what you’d get out of tech
*dropbox ceo building a commune with free food & housing* CNN : Hey, what are you doing? Dropbox CEO : I’m preparing my employees for a layoff so they can live comfortably amidst this economic downturn after they get fired from their cushy jobs that pay half a million per year.
Sorry to read this, OP. Feel free to DM for TikTok / Bytedance referral. For anyone else impacted or reading this, you can DM too.
I think OP is not in the mood to collab with anyone for a TikTok video.
@Kaiji there’s still time to delete your comment. You’re better than that
Why does Dropbox even need that many engineers? Every change that has happened recently have made the product worse. It was basically feature complete at inception. They need to reduce staff to jusy enough to keep the product going and actively work to reduce costs.
Because were publicly traded so we need to feed the market with that sweet growth
What eidjabeg says. A large percentage are around to actively reduce costs so the company can keep funding R&D to try to find some new avenue of growth.

Do you think you will be able to confidently find a high paying job in the next 30 year span?
Prepared people for layoffs? Do people at Dropbox not follow news or stocks? How naive is this. Did the CEO also not tell you the company probably won’t exist in 5 years?
Knew it was coming tbh. Several months ago Drew answered a question about layoffs with a definitive no. 2-3 months ago the tune changed to something like “we’re watching the market and not immune to economic trends”
