EA offered me the following for Senior PM: Base: 145k Bonus: 15% Signon:15k RSUs: 120k TC:~220k They said this is as high as they can go for Los Angeles but I asked about other states and they would reduce my base. Overall feels kind of lo w but wanted to see if anyone from EA can weigh in. #ea #electronicarts #gaming #games
How many yoe do you have in games? How much of that was in PM? Could be more of a leveling issue.
Leveling for EA Game PM goes: PM -> Senior PM -> Lead —> Senior Lead —> Director —> Senior Director
6 years in games with 4 in PM. It's for a Senior PM role
Not sure about your specific offer but the pay at EA is not in par with the other big tech companies I believe. So, if you feel like it is kinda low, it probably is.
In general gaming industry is definitely lower than tech. Seriously don’t go into gaming for the $$$. For a Sr. PM role in gaming it sounds reasonable you can go interview with more game studios to feel out the market. There’s tons of other game studios in LA: try out Jam City and Scopely to see what their going rate is. I was under the belief that Riot is on the higher side (maybe with stocks?) so surprised you’d be jumping from there.
Lol I'm already in games. I wanted to check if it was average for EA since I want to move out of LA some day and EA is offering remote.
Is it higher than Riot’s equivalent? So the idea is you’re going to EA cause it’s remote then it’s a matter of how much you value being remote and keep in mind a lot of companies that offer fully remote also do cost of living adjustments. Like they won’t pay Bay Area rates if you decide to live in Utah for instance.
Careful joining companies that are looking to sell themselves 🤔, in those situations being the newest person in isn’t the safest spot then again maybe a double-dip opportunity: sign-on and then a severance back to back 🤑 https://gamerant.com/ea-merger-plans-report/amp/
Sounds about right for EA
About on target for Grade 21. You could push for an out of band stock increase if you really wanted to.
Just had a friend sign on for a higher sign on bonus, similar RSUs and about 15k less per year (but a senior game designer). I'd push your luck and ask for higher sign on!
Slightly off topic, but you’re leaving Riot Games for EA? Have any of the Riot employees received any news on the MMORPG that Ghostcrawler is making?
