The EB-5 visa investment limit is about to go up from $500,000 to $900,000 on Nov 21st 2019. Thats about 42 days from now. If anyone is still considering it, I would say, pull the trigger now. I got my green card in 16 months, ymmv for every case. also , if you are born in India, wait time is almost 10 years now. China even longer, Vietnam about the same as India. if you are from any other country, there is no waiting time apart from the I-526 processing time. If you are interested, DM me, I can answer your questions and guide you.
500k how did you invest it?
You select a EB-5 project, read the PPM and understand the risks first. Once you are comfortable with the investment conditions, project viability and track record of the regional center, you go ahead with the investment.
Hey, Can u provide below details 1. What investment you made, where, what returns 2. Did you use a lawyer 3. Risks if any
There's no return on Investment in the EB-5 industry, you get a rate of 0.5% at best on your $500,000 for about 5-6 years. If anyone is offering you more, that's a red flag. The main purpose of the EB-5 visa is for you to get your green card and the EB-5 regional center knows that, so they get your cheap money and loan it out to other companies in need of the funds. You get a green card in return. That's the business case. You have to use a lawyer, there's no way around it. It's too complicated otherwise. I am not sure if I am allowed to disclose my project details in an open forum, I will DM you my specifics.
Can you please DM me your project details. We have been planning for a while, but felt risk of putting 500k was very high.
So you invest half a million and wait 10 years? How would you run your business in the meanwhile if your investment is a business
You don't run the business, you invest with a regional center who deploys your money and they run the business. So they would deploy your funds to a hotel or a new building, etc. So choosing the right project is super critical.
Is Regional Center, a government entity or who is it made of
Proves again that in this world, if you have money you can get ahead in line for no reason related to talent. Every EB-5 is an insult on the reputation and talent of 1000s of professional waiting in line to get their GC.
So, what happens with your $500k later; when do you get it back, interest etc?
If you are not from one of the backlogged countries (India, China, Vietnam) you get your money back in 5 years.
And if you're from the backlogged country aka India, do you get your money back? π
As a non-Indian, I never managed to figure out why the majority of FANG Indians donβt simply opt for the EB5 option.
Indian, worked in two of the FANG and genuinely considered this option until my lawyer said "there is a very team possibility that you will lose your money"
Because my plan is to make & save as much money next 4 years and enjoy it somewhere. But yeah if people have established roots here, probably a thing to consider
Is a green card work 500k? If so why?
I did EB-5 and I don't regret it. I got my conditional green card last year
Indian?
Yup
So someone from India or China should pay 500k and wait at home for 10 years! Thatβs a long time.
Better than waiting double or triple the amount of time in EB-1/2/3
150 years π€£π https://www.cato.org/blog/150-year-wait-indian-immigrants-advanced-degrees
So 10 years or longer for EB-5 for India, China and Vietnam? Wow, way to lure in the investors!
Yep, lots of false info out there stating the wait time is only 2-3 years.
