Child chose 2nd-most expensive college
If you’re engaged/married, how much did you spend on engagement ring? How did you decide the price? I looked it up online, I saw a rule that you would spend ~2 months of their salary to buy the ring.
There is no such rule. Just go with what you can afford without going into debt.
Don’t even buy what you can afford but don’t need. Propose with a meaningful gift, get her an expensive ring if she really wants it (but she might not want one, or a different stone, or...)
That rule is marketing.
Depends, is your girl high maintenance? If so she’ll probably be pissed if you don’t get the perfect princess cut multi-carat diamond ring. If she’s not high maintenance she would be happy with anything.
Rules are fools wise men evade (not break) them.
That rule was invented by the diamond industry to sell diamonds.
Find the one she/he wants and get that one - don't be tied to antiquated benchmarks. 2 months salary at $300k TC is $50k which is rediculous for a ring. I didnt decide on a price - I decided on a ring.
2 years of salary.
I wouldn't marry a women who cares about the price of the ring (and I'm a woman)
Wouldnt you love to get an internally flawless GIA certified brilliant red diamond set on a titanium base as your ring?
I like it but it doesn't mean I dislike less expensive options. It's not a factor
500 dollars for the engagement ring. Wife wears a 30 dollar wedding ring. Thinks it is stupid to waste money on something that petty.
You follow rules?
