East or west which is best?
I am currently working as a software engineer in Virginia. I have the opportunity to move either to New York or Bay Area. I am really confused which one I should choose. I am 29 and single and looking to enjoy life now and settle a few years from now. Want to think of this from a dating and career progression perspective. TC : 230k

Bay for your career for 2 to 3 years then take the experience and get to some place not so crazy expensive - besides too freaking cold in NYC.
NYC is nice and diverse, you'll get to meet a lot of cool people

If the housing werenβt so fucked, Iβd say NYC. What I pay for in Seattle would cost 2-3 times as much in NYC. I ainβt paying 3k to live in a closet with no AC in the projects.
Single straight guy ? Don't even bother with west
If dating is one of the criteria, nyc is the higher odds option for a str8 man. Career progression may not be as great as west, but you can still make positive progress. So NYC by miles for str8 man, lean west otherwise.
Bay for career. Nyc for everything else.
