Responsibility of Lead @ State Farm

Received an offer at State Farm for 130K as a AWS SWE Lead (first of two levels). Recruiter explained this was the equivalent of senior and you don’t actually “Lead” per se. but the job description says otherwise. Can some explain what the responsibilities of Lead actually are? Will I be expected to lead projects? Don’t want to lead anything for this TC. #software #engineering #aws #statefarm

You can’t ask to confirm with the hiring manager?

They haven’t let me communicate with the team in this entire process. Only channel is with recruiter.

Come up with more cringe commercials.

It depends on the team. On my sister team that works with AWS most internals are leads, but from what I see, maybe one actually takes the lead on a project. They are mostly a technical team, with less emphasis on the business side. On my actual team, which is more business focused, our lead is also the product owner, so there is a lot more leading of projects from both a technical and business aspect. I would bet your situation would be more like the first, where lead is more like "senior" than actually leading a team.

Appreciate your insight.

Wait. You got an offer, but no interaction with the team? Just the recruiter? I’d ask the recruiter to set up a mtg w the hiring manager. The naming convention of their Lead Engineer makes zero sense. It’s comparable to sr/Sr engineer II level because why would they split the job titles out by level- it’s confusing here
