Say that 30% of the population disappears. How does this impact the economy? Would they need to raise taxes? Would the whole economy collapse?

Ask Thanos
WTF?
Ok, it’s easy. The GDP will drop by at least 30% if you assume the productivity remains the same which is not going to happen, so GDP should decline more than that. Why don’t you look up historical figures? We had Cambodia genocide recently, look up their economy in aftermath
Flag weirdo nonsense plz
Easy, man, maybe he’s a game developer, Civilization, sim city rings the bell?
Fuck off Target, “normal” things are boring
Ok.
1918 Pandemic influenza was a population changing event - where a large population did disappear pretty quick (20-50m, global fatalities). It knocked business down noticeably. There is research statistical statistical data on the economic impact available for the USA (675k fatalities). Google it.
How long of a time frame would you expect for economic sagging? Is the longer term effect also negative in terms of economic health? Obviously businesses would lose a lot of customers very rapidly.
It was pretty rapid, within the year the pandemic happened - by the end of 1919. The research I was reading for this response was 1919 data. Impact ranged between 30-50% loss of business.
We have one now called “opioids”
