I know my algorithms well for the most part. Have read through cracking the coding interview. And have done tons of leetcode. Yet I failed Google’s phone screen (if you have read my other questions you know I passed Amazon and Facebook). My question is, would the book “Elements of programming interviews” fill in any essential gaps I need filling or is my current prep good enough but probably I just got unlucky with Google?
Sometimes it’s just luck. You can be prepared 100% but end up getting an interviewer who’s having a bad day or just doesn’t like you.
EPI was extremely useful for interviews. It is on another level and is very advanced compared to CCI. Highly recommend
Epi was super worth it for me getting into Google
Do you guys write actual code for problems in EPI, or just solve it in mind or paper ?
You simply don’t have enough time to write code for all problems. But it is also useless not to write code for any. You need to strike a balance, like code 2 problems for each topic or data structure
Don t try to mémorise algorithms , figure out general patterns https://techiedelight.quora.com/500-Data-Structures-and-Algorithms-interview-questions-and-their-solutions This will help you
🙄
Wtf, another list of 500 questions :(:( (
Any difference between EPI Python vs EPI Java?
What question did they ask you for phone screen?
I used to use CTCI in the past but this time I used EPI and LeetCode and got into Google. I think EPI covers way more but just remember to give yourself enough time to go through the book and always look for additional explanations if the solution doesn't make sense right away
