For those working in companies right now that Elliot management has taken a stake in, what is the current morale? https://www.foxnews.com/us/paul-singer-sidney-nebraska-cabelas-bass-pro-shops-merger Recently read the above article which talks about how Elliot management forced an outdoor goods company to be acquired by bass pro shops, laid off 80% of the employees which destroyed a small town, and then sold their shares a week later for $90 million profit. Tbh this hedge fund scares the shit out of me. TC - 250 #layoff #salesforce #pinterest #paypal #layoffs #att #comcast #ebay #citrix
Husband is at Salesforce. He is in core product engineering for a high revenue generating cloud. He says it’s all shit. Meetings never start in time or end on time, which bothers him. You login and find out the person you’ve been working with for years has been laid off. People just sort of … disappear. It has always been difficult to get things done. People wait in reviews forever, and you have to check like a million places for 1 piece of information. Now it’s sort of worse than ever. One of my husband’s reviewers was just let go and he didn’t know about so his review just sort of sat. The culture of his org can be hostile. Doing a spike read out opens yourself to harassment — questions are asked to trip you up rather than trying to understand the spike. My husband feels he can’t ask questions. He doesn’t like it and has been trying to move in. But you know *gestures wildly*
That sounds awful, sorry to hear that
It’s not as bad at Pinterest, but certainly things have changed here. People were laid off respectfully, my complaint is severance isn’t industry best as the salary used to be. Everyone is fearful of rolling layoff and and people have definitely lost trust in senior management. The CEO went on to layoff people after assuring everyone that business was in good shape.
All the peons like me on the ground hate these vulture funds. We have no clue what execs think and if they are pushing back or not. I fear the great culture Salesforce has been known for is going to be gone with another 6mo of this. My WLB has already gone to $%^& since Dec. I wish they'd never exist, but money is clearly power here.
Any plans to leave? I feel like Elliot management joining is like being diagnosed with a terminal illness. But from my discussion with other people in these companies some of them tend to see it more as cost-cutting (after a few rounds of layoffs are complete)
I'm gonna ride it as long as it takes to get severence package. I'm trying to moonlight and see if I can get my own business off the ground and then get out of the rat race.
Unbridled Darwinian free market dog-eat-dog capitalism baby 🇺🇸💰🤑
Elliot is scary one. I don’t know why execs approve their investments
They don’t. These companies are public ally traded. They just sort of scoop them up
My previous company was destroyed by this evil company too.
Which company?
Exactly, we’re even letting go of engagement metrics to save costs. Dinner/Snacks perks have been taken away.
TBH I am Just another Employee in IT world
Second highest political donor in Washington? I don’t understand the difference between exaggerated political donations and bribery! It’s just another “soft language” as George Carlin said.
Excited for my RSUs, but not for my ex-teammates still at CRM
Welcome to the land of capitalism.
