I am working in an automotive industry( ADAS projects) as an embedded software engineer since last 2 years. No machine learning or AI topics. I want to level up my skills as an embedded sw engineer. What skill set/ courses/ certification I can start working on ? #engineering #software #embedded #skillset #courses#auto
Autoware and apex ai is running a course on autoware auto I think it's super relevant to our field
Will check that out !! Thanks.
I actually think Conti has some free courses through Coursea if you want to study new things. I am doing a course on Machine Learning.
Yes I agree we do have access to coursera. I want to narrow down the topics instead of picking up randomly hence looking for suggestions.
Do you know how can we access those??
Real-time systems seems like a relevant topic for embedded automotive systems when it comes to autonomy or ADAS. Coursera has a career track for real-time systems. But I learned it in university. I am in a similar situation like you just one year earlier :D I graduated master mechatronics/embedded systems and do now a 1 year internship in the valley in embedded autonomous driving. So I am also interested which skills others with more experience can suggest that are important for this career path.
Ah and Udacity has its self-driving nano degrees, that I am taking. Great to get an overview over different self-driving topics but not really focused on embedded.
Even I had RTS during my graduation . I finished my masters in embedded systems like 2 years back. I am looking for more practical approach which can directly help me at my workplace. Self driving courses is a good suggestion .. for sure I plan to do it . Right now I am looking for embedded and more technical knowledge. :D
Doing some projects using qnx , Can bus related stuff? IDK how effective one can do by it themselves. But I would like to
Don’t fall into Pitfall of learning self driving courses. Embedded systems in itself is a huge specialization. Learn about ARM/QNX based systems and its a lot to learn. Interviewer expects and actual work involve proficiency in embedded domain. There are million people already who can just “talk” about how the SD work. You wouldn’t add any more value.
I see the self-driving course more as a chance to understand other parts of the system. That is, because I want to find out if there are more interesting areas in this domain I would like to work on. At OP if you are 100% sure that you want to stick to embedded, then probably a self-driving course is wasted time as pitler said.. Regarding QNX might be hard to learn at home since you need a license for the compiler.. For ARM and embedded there is a lot on the net. @pitler do you have experience in embedded systems? What to you think are the most important skills one should focus on in the first couple of years in this domain?

How is the embedded automotive future.? Do you like the domain? I would like to move to that in the future..
I like the domain. Yes I am ok moving in this direction. Self driving tech is really challenging and innovative I look forward to it. I see it blooming not considering covid situation (Ofcourse market is down). There is lots of room for new ideas and with electric cars yes career as embedded engineer is great to go with.
Nice. Do you have any advise for me to shift my career that path? I have less than 1 Yoe. Currently working on windows driver development
