Should we be faithful to companies/team/mgr?
When big wigs like Google, Meta and Microsoft are slowing down hiring and laying off people, the market for employees just dried up. 1. No more 3-4 competing offers 2. No more low bar for hiring 3. No more coasting 4. Lower pay 5. Benefits may dry up (wfh etc.) It was good while it lasted. Now we back to an employers market. They set the rules, we just live by them
Entirely depends on your niche and how good you are at your job. My friends and I have diverse and compelling skills and experience in technical writing, cybersec/infosec, big data eng and architecture, and other niche areas, and no one is being forced back into the office except for some people at Google who are otherwise unhappy with G and thinking about leaving anyway. Some have even been given major exceptions to policies, such as working remotely from another country.
Also those that negotiated too-high salaries will be cut first
Lmao And people were dissing on Elon for layoffs
No more LC and GTFO BS I am happy
Less jobs will actually force people to study more, which will raise the leetcode bar overall. If someone gets job fast, it prevents him/her from studying more.
Study more? Like what? Spending two years studying leetcode?
Disagree. I have multiple offers from full remote companies. I can see from levels that I’m at the top of the ranges for the roles. Could I squeak out more from a Meta offer? Maybe. But not really interested in them anyways
The dude is a very anxious dude. Do you need my therapist number?
Can you share details of the companies rolling out complete remote working
Amazon still pays 400k for SDE 2.
As long as your skills are top notch. It's not gonna matter much.
That is not true. Most of the managers don't know who is top notch and also if they do, do not like them. So it is all about your political skills to stay afloat.
Being good at office politics is always important. How else did your director fail all the way up 😉
Empire building by managers will be back once Fed stops rate hikes. Its always cyclical.
Empire building?
Lol yeah.. What's empire building? I thought managers work for salary too.
