Hello guys , I have 16 YOE and recently interviewed. Looking for suggestions , should I accept manager role (L4) or ask for sr manager role (L5). Location is given bayarea (they r opening new office in Bay Area) 1) Should I push for L5? 2) what is the salary for L4 and L5 Base =? Bonus =? Stocks =? 3) any refresher at year end ? 4) what all other benefits like espp etc ? Plz help guys as I need to decide soon.
What’s your current CTC? What role did Wayfair offer you?
My CTC is 500k, and I was interviewed as L4.
L4 role doesn’t makes any sense for you. It’s top of the band salary is ~420K. Aim for L5, you can get more than 500K if you did fairly well in the interview.
If you are already making 500k it doesn’t make any sense to join Wayfair IMO. Stock is sinking and most importantly no one actually listens or appreciates good work.
Push for L5 and 600k+ TC as top of band. Base 200k bonus 20% RSUs 350k+ annually. L4 is 400k+ TC as top of band. Base 200k bonus 15% RSUs 250k+ annually. No annual refresher at Wayfair. No ESPP at Wayfair.
400K+ TC for an L4 is a myth, it’s only given who are close to become L5. I haven’t seen any L4s making more than 400k @ Wayfair.
are they outside hires or internally promoted L4s? there's a big difference
Am L4 making 300k with stock dip, I totally agree with that. I was at 330k before the dip. I doubt the majority of l4s are making 400k
Are you a manager (L4)? Is it same level for management and technical there ?
yes and yes it is.
Sounds like L5 to me. We now have L6 manages 1 pod with only 2 teams…
L5 or L6 depends on the potential growth of the pod. Some pods might have only two teams but very soon they might grow big.

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Between the two roles is not based on years. It is based on experience. At a certain point in your career it is about what you do and not how long you did it for.
Understood. Thx. Any suggestions for my question?
How many people have you managed? Have you managed managers?
