Hey everyone, Thank you all for the supportive comments, referrals, and DMs after my last post. If you read my post, I was put on PIP and was quite desperate. I wanted to share a quick update on my situation. After the uncertainty and anxiety I faced at Etsy, I'm thrilled that things have taken a turn for the better. I was put on PIP at Etsy, which initially felt disheartening, especially since I believed I was a strong performer. Yes, the PIP was unfair, and the reasons they gave were objectively false. However, I decided to channel that energy into looking for new opportunities. I'm excited to report that I've not only secured two fantastic job offers already, but I'm also in the final rounds for two more potential roles next week. My total compensation is set to increase by at least 60%, depending on which offer I ultimately choose. While it was tough to part ways with Etsy, I'm incredibly thankful for the push it gave me to explore new horizons. Instead of remaining at a company with negative growth and low pay, I'm now on the verge of joining one of the FAANGs with significantly higher compensation. It's a stark reminder that sometimes, adversity can lead to incredible opportunities. I truly appreciate all the support and advice I've received from this community during this challenging time. Your encouragement has been invaluable. To those facing similar situations, remember that setbacks can often pave the way for something much better. Stay determined, keep learning, and never underestimate your potential. And thank you, Etsy. For the nudge, I needed to find a brighter path forward.
Congrats! I wasn’t pip’d but part of a larger layoff back in April. I’m still looking and the anxiety that I won’t be able to pay rent in 2 months anymore is high. This post gave me a lot of hope. Do you mind if I DM you? Edit to add: I just saw your OG post. My manager had made a document framed as “promotion tracker” and told me it was to track my progress for a promotion. In reality, it was to frame me as a low performer (I found out later we were being stack ranked for layoffs). I’m sorry you went through similar. It sucks being framed just cause the manager needs a head to chop to keep their own job. I’m happy you found something. I happen to sell on Etsy, a lot of makers are leaving (or already left) the platform because of the crazy %% they take from each sale. So their outlook is not looking great anyways from my pov.
I'm not an active buyer on Etsy. Out of curiosity, where are sellers migrating to?
@bobatime there’s a lot of places. r/etsysellers I think has a master list of alternates.
What's your yoe/level/role?
Congrats 🎉🎉🎉
Congrats, this is hopeful. Also Etsy kinda sucks anyway
Congratulations OP.👏 You looks to have got offers from FANG in less than a month. Were you already preparing with LC and System Design? If not, how did you pull this off? Also what is your YOE?
I wish I worked at Etsy
Congratulations, mate. I’m glad to hear that you’ve found another opportunity quickly. People here have really come together over the past year to help each other out during layoffs, and it’s great to see. If you don’t mind sharing, what’s your YOE, Level and TC of all of the offers you’ve received? This will help us determine what companies are paying in this market. Also, please share your interview preparation process and interview experiences if you can since other people may benefit greatly from it. Thank you and congrats once again! TC: 105K Level: L4, set to get L5 sometime next year YOE: 2 in Analytics Location: MCOL
Congrats, can you please share Etsy and new offers, location as well as Yoe. Hopefully you support someone in need by giving referrals or some interview prep/mock interviews
I’m so happy to read this post. I’m glad things worked out for you, OP! Congrats.
Great to hear! Good things happens to those who persevere
