Why do companies hire in Europe when it is so difficult to fire slackers.
Language preference is higher priority in eu like germany
It's not impossible to fire people in Europe, we just have laws to make sure we're not fired for no reason, a concept Americans wouldn't understand
Some companies are European. Devs make less in Europe. Companies do business in Europe and want people in that time zone. They have a pretty big talent pool. Firing āslackersā isnāt as important when people have more job stability b/c they actually value their job so fewer people have an antagonistic relationship with work. They donāt have to pay for health insurance. Etc etc
This makes sense. But employees can start taking multiple job and not care about performance
As another commenter said itās not impossible to fire people in Europe, itās prevented from firing for no reason. If someone is not caring about performance, data will be collected and the person will be fired.
Because they can invest in people knowing they wonāt be shot by a random freak.
Lower salary There's a lot of talent that won't move to the us Closer to customers in Europe & same language They're less likely to job hop
Hmm I wonder why a highly competitive industry where good employees are always hard to come by hires in a highly-educated market of similar size to the US.
Europe is old money dude, I make 180k euro in Dublin, but I also have 3m cash and 6 apartments, why would I move in US?! US is for folks from poor countries like India and China or eastern Europe. Most Western Europe folks have old money and donāt need to push themselves much, life is short
Your family stole it from Rajesh. Give it back!
After having seen their PRs, Iām convinced European devs are better than Indian devs, including those here on H1B. Their software design is great because they understand abstractions better, and somehow they are fast too.
Best developers I know are all Europeans. IMHO Americans are better in marketing / selling but Europeans are better in engineering
Because at the end of the day it's cheaper You also have a middle ground in terms of timezones between the US and India/East Asia
So execs can take "business trips" to Paris and London on the company's money
Agree
