I recently got two offers in Walmart in different locations and teams. I am trying to evaluate which is better. Any insights please? Please let me know ur comments why you prefer that option and NOT the other option. Note that the offer in San Bruno, CA has a range up to 220K base salary and it's a x6 role. The offer in Bentonville has a level known as tech6 (as mentioned by the recruiter). Not sure what is the difference between x6 and tech6 but both the offers are IC and do not have direct reports.
These r in data analysis or Data engineering? Do you mind to tell on what expertise you were evaluated in interviews. It’s sql, people manager or/and ?
While the pay’s good on paper, the Culture there is toxic.
This is in data analytics for the position in Bentonville and Walmart+ in San Bruno. It's not a people manager (just IC). SQL was being evaluated predominantly along with relevant business acumen.
Look at cost of living comparison. Bentonville is a great place to live, but if you love the big city and sky scrapers, it might not be your cup of tea.
Is the equity is joining rsu?
For x6 in san bruno the rsu is very high .Is it non technical?
Tech RSU/yr are usually 80k for SWE and 100k for DS offers in HCoL areas.
1 is a supply chain role, one is a marketing role, very different jobs. What do u want to do with your career?
If that question is easy to answer, I would not have initiated this poll in the first place. Assume I am equally inclined to both for now.
Bentonville offer is good.. in comparison CA offer is pale.. its 30% above Bentonville while cost of living is atleast 2-3 times lower than Bay area… so you are getting bad deal there …bentonville is actually a pretty good place if you are married /kids.. great place for families and waltons are trying to make it cool .. its still not tier A city but it’s decent.. biggest thing is with that salary you can get a 2500 sq ft house with yard for 500K if buying a house is in your life events.. you cannot get to do that in bay area for that salary…
You can't do that in the bay area on any salary unless "salary" includes a million in $8.88 Snowflake ISOs.
Always wise to choose a career closer to HQ.

Live life king size in AR!!
Difference in take home is like 30K...
In Bentonville you get houses with pool for 600-700k. In San Bruno, you will not even get just a bathroom for that price.
