Twitter has major security problems that pose a threat to users' personal info, shareholders, national security & democracy, per a whistleblower disclosure alleging one or more employees may be working for a foreign intel. Oh snap! https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/23/tech/twitter-whistleblower-peiter-zatko-security/index.html #tech
Consider the source, but Twitter also has many other problems including it is no longer "the flavor of the day."
I enjoy using Twitter. There's no other platform like it.
I enjoy Twitter too. It’s got a specific niche of content you don’t find elsewhere. The design decisions are terrible though and the lack of security is concerning.
What about Reddit?
What about TikTok?
What about it?
Is anyone surprised at all?
Social media companies have thousands of employees, it’s foolish to think that there isn’t anybody working for foreign Intel.
It's a safe bet MSFT, Google, AMZN, etc have employees working with foreign intel as well. And do we really believe thr CIA doesn't have any assets at TikTok or Tencent? In other news, water is wet.
Yes we have some issues, but I am willing to bet Meta and Google also have issues. It is interesting that he left in January and just whistleblew last month.
Unless the source comes forward it's just noise. "Twitter also lacked the ability to hold workers accountable for information security lapses because it has little control or visibility into employees' individual work computers, Zatko claims, citing internal cybersecurity reports estimating that 4 in 10 devices do not meet basic security standards." This concerns me.
