I came across this: https://www.reddit.com/r/fatFIRE/comments/95uvw4/22_sold_sideproject_for_2m_best_way_to_fatfire/ This guy sold a side project for $2M. Does anyone know of any examples of single person side projects that were sold for a similar amount of money? I’d like to learn from some examples.
22 years old and getting CTO offers? Sounds a bit troll-ish but definitely possible build up a project and sell for a couple million. Find a market that has now or can have a demand for something you can build. Step 2) build it, and they will come
Uhhh unless this is a large public company it's pretty easy to get a CTO position once you go through the whole start a business phase as a cofunder
@microsoft doesn’t read. We’re not talking about a whole startup business with business plan, investors, burn down charts for survivability, acquiring and managing employees. Sure, that can qualify for a CTO position at some other startup. Instead, we’re literally talking about “a side project”
My friend had his hackathon project purchased by Google for $1 million
Was it literally a project he just hacked together in a weekend? Or did he run with it afterward and start getting steam before selling?
Any details?
Wow. Wonder what that project was? And they did not hire him with it?
It was from an early start-up that went public
