Posting on behalf of a friend: My friend has 15+ years of experience as Backend Java developer and is currently based out of the US working as a Tech lead with about $150k Salary there. He's looking to relocate to Pune and is targeting Principal/Senior Staff Engineer roles at prominent product based companies. Please advise on the salary he can target while negotiating for the following list of companies (Got the list from here https://www.teamblind.com/post/Best-product-based-companies-in-Pune-Cwn1nnXU) -Nvidia -Google -Slack -VMware -Mindtikle -Phonepe -OLA -Cohesity -Helpshift -Nutanix -Marvell -Snowflake #pune #salaries #engineering #software #swe #salary #relocation
Atleast 1 cr, could be upto 2.5 cr as well for senior staff positions.
I am assuming you are talking about google pune salaries, can you share the base vs stocks breakup at those levels?
Google L5 sse base 60lac+ + stocks $200k+ for 4yrs. Google L6 staff engineer, I am guessing would be 50-80% higher than L5. But I don’t have any verified data point for L6.
$150k = hardly 50L salary in india
If he has 15+ years of experience and earning $150K I wonder what skills make him stand out of the crowd in US (forget India). Even new grads make more than that or close to it. If he is so keen he should at least download blind, sign up and post it. Its an anonymous platform after all. Why are you doing it for a friend.
Op is asking for themselves
Lol. The US compensation is ridiculous. It must attract many frauds, certainly not the best. I wonder how is it really working for US companies?
Tell your friend (you) that no one gives a FK about US exp. Every third person would be US return, also 150k were you doing a data entry job.
As others have said, a jump from 15 yoe 150k$ and hence non-faang to faang-level companies that too principal is a pipe dream, moreover in India! At best the friend can hope for Witch or a few banks which have back offices in India. I have a friend in HSBC with 10 lpa salary yoe 10.
Geez, what's with all the butthurt "oNlY MaKiNg 150K wItH 15 yOe" responses. The TL of my sister team used to work at a tiny 20 person startup for a pittance before he joined Meta as a IC6. Dude 5xed his TC overnight. It happens. Let OP's friend figure it out.
The difference is India. Indian hiring is hard, a lot of competition.
OP didn't ask Blind to predict the probability of success or to help his friend crack interviews. It's a very simple question for specific details.
Your friend should Dream Big in the US and be conservative in India as the competition is too high and pay is not relatively competitive if it’s non faang , I know folks getting less than 25L with 20 Yoe
Non faang - I work for service now and my TC is 92 for a staff role. So its a myth that only faang pays well. Well L6 at amazon will get another 20% more but 92L is a great TC in India.
VMware is no more!
