This week is the first week my friend joined a company with so much of excitement after graduating this May. He also got another offer today from Expedia which is offering almost double to what he get now. He want to move to Expedia, but is it normal to change the companies with less than a month tenure. His date of joining in Expedia is Aug 31. He is not sure how to approach the current employer about his resignation. Any tips would be much appreciated. Current TC: 80K Role: SDE 1 Expedia TC: ~150K Role: SDE 2 YOE before M.S degree is 3. #career
It’s normal for 2x salary. I’d go to Expedia for sure. Just omit that company from the resume. Most people wouldn’t even remember but 🖕 to anybody who judges somebody in this situation.
Got it. Do we need to mention the current company in the background verification process?
It’s not normal but also you don’t get these kinds of offers everyday
Man leave now even if you unfortunately gotta burn bridges - it happens…don’t pass up Expedia
Why?
In many cases higher pay also challenges enough which could help for your career.
He just graduated in May? Just accept the Expedia offer and quit the current one . The pay isn’t even close so I don’t think anyone would blame you. The background check you asked about will check what you tell them.
What’s the salary breakdown?

Let him frankly tell the situation and leave the company.
Sounds like pretty straightforward. Will he get black listed for doing this in the company or companies in the same domain?
Nope. I don’t think so.
