Expedia vs Startup
I am working at a startup since 2 months and I have gotten a verbal offer from Expedia. I initially interviewed for SDE2 at but they down levelled me to SDE1. My base is currently at 65k but Expedia is offering 58k. But since Expedia is more established than a startup, (and with the the probable recession coming up), I am wondering if I should take up Expedia even after being down-levelled and being offered a lower salary. #tech #swe #sde TC: £65k YoE : 5
Negotiate to SDE2. You don't want to back peddle your career.
Don't take the downlevel
Expedia isn’t doing anything innovative. And they pay terribly. They’re in cash cow mode. They offered me less than 1/3 what Amazon did! It was such a joke of an offer. Stay with the startup if you see upside/traction. Otherwise shop for a better place to go than Expedia.

You got scammed. SDE1 is for new grads. 5 yoe should be put in SDE 3 bracket.

Downleveled to SDE I with 5 years of experience? You must’ve not interviewed well or something else must be wrong here. Don’t take SDE I.
