Hello, Hireright is currently doing a background check on me and I think I'm losing my mind because I don't know what's going on. It's been a week now. I was contacted to provide additional documentation and I did, but it's been radio silence ever since. They didn't even acknowledge my mail. Who else is currently being checked by Hireright? How has your experience been so far?
They said it would take ten days, and it took ten days of complete radio silence for my background check to clear (and I must have had the easiest background check of all time; one degree and one employer for ten years).
These take a while. Just wait.
I had a similar experience recently. I called them 5+ times for a whole week and emailed proof of employment but they didn’t read my emails until I kept mentioning it for multiple days in a row
Just give them some time. They are answerable to the HR who is dealing with your case. Sometimes the delay may on the other side where it takes for them to verify the documents since they might not have received any communications from the college etc. If you need their immediate attention, loop in the HR or just let the HR know about this.
I actually leave out college to speed up the process. You can not fill that part out and leave it blank. I did this for 3 companies already. I usually get my background check back in 4 days.
“I actually leave out college to speed up the process. You can not fill that part out and leave it blank. I did this for 3 companies already. I usually get my background check back in 4 days.” Well, then the info you provided to hireright is different from your resume... And you’re saying it goes fine? Just curious, since I have foreign undergraduate degree, that I didn’t provide to HR, but had put in my CV - so now worry how will this discrepancy go...
They will take an entire month if you don’t call and pester them. It is unreal.
Yeah hire right is awful. It took them forever to verify my work history and they kept calling the front desk number instead of the direct number of HR at my previous employer 🙄 I had to contact HR at my previous employer and ask that they contact hire right to get things moving AND provide additional documentation that I worked there. Terrible company
Sometimes it takes a while. it took me 2.5 weeks when I joined Oracle. Now I will be joining G and it hardly took 2 days. Be patient.
I never hear back from them. I'm assuming they just did their thing. I'm not the customer.
Usually what happens is the requesting company says we want all results back in X time period and so they keep checking and trying to obtain all information until that time expires. Then they submit it.

This company is sketchy as hell. Historically they just outsourced the work to India and the workers didn’t know what the hell they were doing or how to properly conduct a background check.
Your best bet in moving this process along is doing their job for them. Provide them with documentation to verify education (transcripts, degrees, etc) and anything you can find to verify your work history (w2s, pay stubs, etc). Black out anything you don’t want to share.
This is what I did at Apple. Also, they outright told me they don’t know to check what you don’t tell them. It will speed it up if you only put what you need them to check. School, last employer. Where you lived. Don’t put more employers than you had on your resume or application to your new potential employer.
