I'm 40 years old in a non-tech company. Blind posts about tech company salaries/TC evals making me sleepless at night. Just want to vent out with frustration and say "F u to all Blind peers who are making high TC". Nothing personal! TC: 100k #techcareer #lowball #tc
I am proud of this community of techies who have boldly shared their TCs and help everyone negotiate better. Techies are a lot better than the blood sucking investment bankers/consultants any day who propagate the employer salary secrecy policy. Keeping TCs secret just helps the employers Also 6 YOE, 550k. ? I’m in tech too but sure make yourself sleep better optimizing social media ads over financing loans. Tech is no better than finance/consulting. You’re also just wrong cuz pay in banking and consulting is normalized for basically the entire ladder
I used to think like you once upon a time and especially hate on investment bankers…and tbh I still do. Tech employees building software and blue collar workers actually manufacturing goods and finance people just make deals, buy and sell companies and out earn everyone. But what helped me get peace is that your output doesn’t equate to your TC .. there’s jobs that pay a lot with less work and then there’s jobs that don’t pay but you got to work a lot. The bottom line is that don’t hate the player… hate the game.

There are high earners and low earners in all industries. Some basketball players earn million a month while some can’t afford bananas. It’s the same even for lawyers. They have deeper pay difference than tech.

Sounds pretty personal lol.. I'm nowhere near what tech people make either but don't shit on someone else's salary. I'm not saying success cuz that means a lot of things to diff people, but you need to reevaluate your life as you sound resentful and jealous.
Haha I am 45 and make only 170k. It is what it is. Too late to do anything about it. Just be content. Atleast we have a job. Most ppl don’t like to hire older ppl.
