FAAMG Internship

I am a CS Undergrad, currently in first year and starting an Internship soon for the summer, June - September, at Arm (doing HPC) As I am doing an year in industry after my 2nd yr, should I intern for Arm again or look for an Internship in Facebook/Google/Amazon/Apple/Microsoft? What would be the better option for long term and if I apply for FAAMG, what's your suggestion in preparing for getting an internship offer? (I am kinda doing my leets btw lol)

Never do the same internship at the same company twice, especially in the early stage of your career. I've told every intern I mentored to explore other opportunities next, even to the top ones I really want them to join the team. It helps you learn very different things, network with very different set of people, and really figure out what you like. Plus no one would ever blame or question you for interning at different companies. It's gonna be a different story once you become a FTE. Instead of exploring, you'll have no choice but to focus on growing your career. At that moment, you'll definitely miss your freedom as an intern.

Thanks! this really makes sense. What I was thinking before is "If I have interned once here, it would be easy to just get a conversion" but expanding my horizon is a greater choice if I get the opportunity. Cheers

It sounds like you already know the answer my young friend. If you want to get into a top SW company, would it better to be an intern from one of them or a semiconductor IP licensing company... Hmm.

The fact that you’re interning at a decently large company after freshmen year is absolutely sick, nice work! You’ve already set yourself up nicely for getting past resume screens, so go for Big Tech.
