Hello all.. I have 14yrs of experience working for IT services & Marketing Agency companies. Had experience in Java, PHP, but switched to front-end development for past 7-8yrs. Also have exposure to Python, but not much. Currently working as Lead Developer. I am preparing for front end developer interviews to switch to FAANG companies possibly with good preparation. Reason is for better pay (current TC $110k) and learning opportunities. However, I am not able to find what kind of questions are asked for front end developer interviews. Most posts focus on Data Structures, Algorithms and System Design. Is System Design really asked in Front End interviews? I can use Leetcode for Data Structures & Algorithms practice in JavaScript. But, beyond that I'm not able to find to which extent other areas (HTML, CSS, Angular, webpack, gulp etc.) are covered by these companies. Can you share your experiences and any websites similar to Leetcode where we get to know more about front end interview experiences at these companies? #frontend #faang
Thank you for the responses. I am trying to find what they focus on in front end interviews but not able to get much information. Will read others experiences further to see if I can get info. If anyone has experience attending these interviews please share your experience
Keep in mind I haven't personally interviewed for a front end particular role, but most FAANG does the standard interview with data structures and algorithms for their software engineer roles. Why? Mostly because it's easier that way. If you're good enough to prove you can "think", you will more than likely be able to actually do your job. Or at least that's their explanation. They also want both front end and back end people to be the same caliber, and that includes knowing about data structures and algorithms. I also honestly think that if you know any other language than JavaScript, you shouldn't do a coding interview in JavaScript. Because other languages actually have data structures you can use as building blocks, whereas JavaScript is JavaScript. Of course if anyone knows more, I'm curious to find out. Still, highly doubt there's anything different in the interview process between front end and back end. That's where the resume comes in...
Actually I’ve heard that F and G have made their front-end interviews more focused on front-end these days. Don’t remember the source, but can probably find this info by googling around.
