Tier 1: Apple, Netflix Tier 1.5: Airbnb, Google, Roblox, Snowflake, Databricks Tier 2: Meta, Datadog Tier 2.5: Amazon Tier 3: Microsoft
Why is apple higher than Google
apple is managed more efficiently than google
Is Apple a better employer than Google and Meta. Hell No.
How did datadog squeeze in there? Why is Apple #1? Just because they didn't do layoffs so far doesn't make them #1. If they do layoffs, we would be back with Tim sucks posts.
2 years from now, this teir system will change based on reactive thinking versus value thinking
What is reactive thinking? Care to elaborate?
when a tech company stock tanks and their leadership is preasured by shareholders to reduce headcount, or a heavily invested product fails, people immediately want to change their ranking system (always reacting versus looking at whether that tech company has real, long term value) Meta, for example, has long term value despite it rushing too quickly to adopt its metaverse roadmap, when the technology is too immature to deliver real value that we can measure. Meta appears to be a failure, its stock tanked (for multiple reasons), its layoffs and bad decision making caused people to reconsider its status in Tier 1. However, if the tech Meta needed was mature enough today, it would be a different story - and people wouldnt have knee jerk reactions against it in todays market
I have directly or indirectly used all those companies. Except for Roblox. I don't get Roblox.
I feel like Roblox has a special place because it's one of the only places where you can work in the gaming industry without losing out on benefits of the tech industry. I think some people might think they shouldn't be included in polls like this because they seem like a startup, but while their surge in popularity was more recent, they are decently old and well-established at this point.
GOOG, MSFT, META are still very very much top tier. Sorry AMZN, you're still shitty. As always.
Google, Meta, Amazon, Netflix are all about the same to be honest. Microsoft pays less.
🤦🏽♂️
Amazon still has got some really top talents (not sure how long they will continue) and some engineers get insanely fat paychecks. BUT ON AVERAGE, talent pool and compensation at Google, Meta, NVIDIA, Netflix, Snap, Roblox, Airbnb, LinkedIn etc are definitely quite better. Databricks: Talent is definitely better. Pay: I dont know, specially because stock is paper money atm. Apple is probably marginally better (pro: good stock refresher, no layoff so far, con: slightly lower compensation and RTO) Microsoft: if we compare overall, then probably same or worse. How is Snowflake? (I don’t have that good info to comment yet).
What’s the point of Tier when they are all putting 15mins invites on employees calendar’s?
I wonder what goes into tiers and rankings … Prestige? Total comp? Work culture? Retention? Perks? Management? Work hours per week? Exit opportunities? Company’s valuation? Company’s projected earnings/revenue? Company’s impact?
I would say, TC, exclusivity, talents, culture, perks, product
The only company on that list thats remotely exclusive is airbnb. Talent wise. Airbnb and databricks are good. Rest not too good. Netflix got kinda diluted lately because they started hiring new grads and their bar there is surprisingly not that high Product wise. Good luck having any impact on such mature products unless you are VP+
No one cares. whoever pays me highest tc is tier 1
Agreed but why are you at Amazon then?
I moved to another company. But Amazon blind is 🔥🔥
lol what is this some frat tier rank list or some bs
