Base: 265 bonus: 20% rsu: 1.3 M sign on: 100k TC is same like my current comp. but cliffing from next year. recruiter told the feedback are good, but they reached the E6 limit (or very close). given an option to take additional rounds for E7. has anyone done this before? what are these additional rounds? just design rounds? also, how challenging E7 is compared to E6, which one will have better WLB? yoe: 10+
Great offer! Congrats 🍾🎉🎈🎊 👏🏽 Mind sharing your interview rounds? Like how many and primary focus. Is it backend / front end / AI / ML?
What’s your level at LI ?
What do you lose if you take on the extra E7 round? If OP had competing offers would Facebook counter and try to offer out of band E7 comp for an E6 role? That might be the sweet spot.

E7 external hires have a hard time surviving at FB.
+1 .. exception I saw an E7 external hire but he was already E7 at Google before .. dude is amazing .. others didn't last long
how about E6? how many survive as E6? typical time to get promoted to E7? assuming i take 6-12 months to master E6 and then perform really good.
I think it's close to top of band .. Both E6 and E7 have bad WLB .. you will be responsible for everything. E7 leads multiple E6 and should set direction for the entire org not a specific team or technology .. I doubt you can be an E7 at 10 yoe but if you can do it more power to you.
i have more than 10yoe not mentioning the exact years for anonymity :) how big the org size is?
E6 you lead a project maybe 10-20 engineers some of them are E5 telling them what to do E7 you influence an org .. think 100-300 engineers and plan with others big and new initiatives and make a business case and break into projects and then you also rally the teams in your organization to execute them and convince VP and directors this is needed and then show E6 that this is good for them and try to recruit them to do your idea .. not all E7 are like this .. some are smaller scope but it's a wide band .. if you are new and don't know the teams in your org you will find it hard to identify the key people and convince them ..etc .. hence it's very difficult for external E7 because they want you to perform from day 1
Depends who you are. Are you willing to risk a burn out and sub meets all rating vs a higher comp and locked in title, or do you prefer a softer landing so you can survive across the full 4 year equity ramp?
