I read here that a small % of people get GE (greatly exceeds expectations) rating, which is expected. What are some of the qualities that GE returning interns possess? What they did right to get that rating? Any info on tips to get it would be appreciated.
Be smart. Communicate well. Write great code (with tests, even!). Don’t cause a SEV0. Hit your stretch goals. Don’t get caught hooking up in a quiet room. Don’t fill your backpack with snacks from the MK.
Definitely write good quality code and finish your project ahead of schedule. But what really gets you GE is going above and beyond in the independence/collaboration axis (working with XFN teams, independently completing a second project, expanding scope of original project, etc).
What does XFN mean? Thank you so much for the info btw, I’m going to intern at Meta this fall and I’m a little dreaded.

Finding a good intern mentor is pretty big tbh. At intern calibration it felt like people pretty much went with whatever the manager proposed. A lot of the GE cases, the intern went above or beyond the requirements and did something impressive
