Received a verbal confirmation for SWE role in CapitalOne, London. I need to accept or decline in next 1-2 days. Please let me know your thoughts. Offered TC : 65K GBP + 5K GBP Bonus + about 8% pension (5k GBP) Total TC - 65 + 5 + 5 ~ 75 K GBP No relocation/JB/flight tickets, but visa sponsorship would be taken care. Current TC - 31 L INR (28 base + 3 bonus) YOE: 8.4 Recruiter refuses to increase even a little bit. My 5 rounds of interviews all went really well as per recruiter. My ultimate aim is to work for FAANGMULA/Tier 1-2 companies. Can I use this offer as an entry point to UK and then switch to FAANGMULA or even banks that pay 100K+ base? FWIW, I declined an IJP in JPMC to Glasgow, Scotland as they offered only 45K base + 6 JB +4 bonus. Please suggest, Thanks! #tech #capitalone #capone #c1
Please don’t include pension into your TC…
Got it. So tc in UK should be base + bonus + stocks only!!
It looks pretty low, if you are single then it will be almost 1.8 k monthly expenses and for 65k yearly you have to pay around 35-42% of taxes, that will leave you only 1 or max 2 k in your hand every month for saving. This will be hard if you are taking your family with you.
I'm currently single. So I should be ok. But as you say it's low for my YOE. Recruiter not willing to negotiate. I'm not sure what to do. I'm thinking to work here (if I don't get other offers) and switch after a year to cross 100K. Not sure how good this plan is
The 1.8K monthly expenses you mentioned, does it involved room share/room mates or living on own?
Seem medicore, did you try moving within JPM or try all Banks in London? We got many people in London with visa recently.
JPM gave me 45 base for Glasgow. I declined immediately. Too low i think. They are not sending me to London or Bournemouth, i think due to higher costs there. I just applied to Bloomberg and GS yesterday and since it's holiday I think will have to wait till next year. I applied for Citi (London and Belfast) , Barclays, Morgan Stanley but none of these have callbacked me for UK They did ask if i want to join in India, which again I declined.
FYI is the worst time to apply in US banks. All the roles are closing due to year end.Next year will again open some of them. Not sure what they do with pending applications but I would advise you reapply after 15 of Jan
Any update on this? What did you finally decide?
It appears to be low-balled from London perspective but I could be wrong since I have very little idea. However your indian TC looks fair for your yoe.
