FSD or Battery Tech a competitive advantage?
Tesla does not come with a high fidelity hardware like other autonomous test vehicles. Can it develop FSD based on passenger vehicle specs? Battery Technology is led by the 3 large Asian battery makers. Can Tesla produce better batteries than them?

Definitely battery. Battery chemistry is custom to every company. But what Tesla is fing good at is mass manufacturing these batteries. I interviewed for a cell manufacturing position but I had no prior experience. Got roasted during the panel. They have sr. Staff level researchers for key Process steps. I seriously doubt Panasonic has this.
For Tesla to have a competitive advantage, its battery technology should be better than CATL and LG. Else, OEMs would just source from CATL or LG just like fabless semi companies source from TSMC. Is Tesla’s battery tech better than CATL and LG? If so, why is that lead sustainable?
I’m not sure if Tesla would ever sell their battery tech to other companies. I don’t see why not though, eventually. That said, it should be interesting how the new 4680 performs when it comes out. No company seems to have an out and out superior cell chemistry. And frankly, engineering generally doesn’t work that way I believe. That’s why it’s so crucial on how these techniques are scaled up. That determines the winners. Same reason why a MacBook performs better and is reliable than other higher specd laptops. I’d bet that when companies like QuantumScape start selling theirs, the Si anode batteries from Tesla would perform just as good or better due to the fact that they’ve been on the field for a long time and integration is better.
