Facebook AI

Interested in an AI research engineer position. Currently doing deep learning and computer vision as a research engineer. A FB recruiter reached out recently, but I don't feel ready just yet. Could someone shed light on what the process looks like?

Why don't you ask the recruiter? You can find out what the process is like and tell them you're not interested in interviewing until X months later, ie when you're ready

Yeah I know, already told them to postpone. A recruiter won't know the difference between an LC easy and hard, and they're not going to give any information that goes beyond the bare minimum.

Depends on the recruiter. But for details like that I agree its good to sample a variety of sources

You can expect some reservoir sampling questions which isn't typical Facebook SWE interview questions

Is Al research engineer more similar to Data scientist than Machine learning Engineer?

It's basically an ML engineer, except focused on the theory side of ML as opposed to the application side

Just tell the recruiter your timeline. Most are trying to get you hired, they can just write you name down as interested and cycle back in N months.

The recruiter will be happy to answer any specific questions about the interview process, mine even set me up with engineers who give system design interviews, etc.
