Hey so A Fb recruiter contacted me after a rejection for new grad SDE role and said based on my previous application they were interested in considering me for a Production Engineering role. They then proceeded to ask when I could start and to rank my location preferences. I’m unsure what to make of this email, are they putting me through a new interview process or are they going to use my previous interview results to extend an offer? The wording of the email made it ambiguous and with my previous interview being pretty close I’m not sure what to expect. I replied but have not heard back for a few days which is unlike initial email screen communications.
Production engineer at Facebook is third class citizen and is treated at the level of those infamous Facebook data scientist sql monkeys. Go if you want Facebook in resume but don’t expect much.
Wow no respect for hardworking ops folks
Didn’t know that DS roles aren’t considered on par with SEs at FB.
Same thing happened to me, not for production engineering though. They contacted me like 6 months after rejection. I think they just want me to interview again.
Did you have to interview again? I got contacted for same reason.

Possibly you will have to interview again, PE has two systems interviews that are very important. The recruiters also ask location preference, possible start date and work authorization before starting the process. In case you have to interview feel free to DM me, I gave my PE onsite 2 weeks ago.
I’m not interviewing but just wanted to spread the positivity and say that you are a nice person for offering help to this guy. I hope good fortune finds its way to you.
Thanks a lot Nutanix, I was in fact going to apply for new grad C++ engineer at Nutanix , but the app asked if I’d graduated before June (which I am not) , so didn’t apply.
