Facebook Data Engineer offer

Just got an offer from Facebook as a data engineer in Menlo Park, CA. I have an overall a little bit less than 3 years working experience. Base is $120,000 Bonus 10% Equity $95,000 for 4 years Relocation assistance No sign on fees I don’t have any other offer to negotiate, but feel this offer is not that so good. Hope I can get some suggestions.

What level? This seems like a salary for new grad.

Juniper jpaero Nov 11, 2017

I mean.. it's a data engineer position, not software.

Should be E4

Base is in median. RSU and sign-on are on low end. You can still try negotiate with some other FB offer numbers you hear from friends / website.

Thanks for the suggestion, I know FB will provide the chance to refresh the equity after I abroad, I will try to negotiate to get some sign on fees.

Data engineer wise OK salary...Software engineer wise poor

You will starve

They would starve on foie gras and caviar? Sushi on a daily basis?

Microsoft Thesmith Nov 11, 2017

Funny brother, try to live with 120k in CA. Good luck eating your “foie gras”, ah

Microsoft lgbJ78 Nov 11, 2017

I didn't realize data engineers were paid so poorly.

Facebook RhVA38 Nov 11, 2017

Bonus isn’t negotiable. Best bet would be equity.

Amazon Zuck4Prez Nov 11, 2017

What the fuck my non-Big4 offer is more than that in a cheap area for basically the same position.

Zillow Group jeje Nov 11, 2017

How come it's so low.Is this a normal for Software Engineer with 3 years experience @Facebook? Or data engineers paid lesser

As far as I know, in FB, data engineer is paid lower than software engineer, but I never thought it is too much lower.

Amazon bnv Nov 11, 2017

DE’s are paid less at most tech companies

Facebook yPRV73 Nov 11, 2017

Data engineers are in a different band that SWE’s. Based on that, this looks about the low-mid band for a level 4. You can probably negotiate a little bit with some competitive offers.
