Made it to onsite for FB Data Engineer - Analytics role. I have 3 years xp. Can anyone offer advice based on DE interview? I think I have a decent idea what's involved thanks to prep materials from recruiter. Wondering about complexity of the data model, what data format for ETL problem, etc.
The first question would be - how to exploit customers’ privacy data w/o their consent at scale while not being noticed.. Design a distributed system for it.
Bonus points if you use Presto.
Can you tell about how to prepare for the coding interview before on-site ?. Is hacker rank good enough ?

Is python a strict necessity or can you use something like java also?
I have 8 yoe with Java and 0 yoe with Python and I can say that Python is a much better choice for interviewing. Try practicing leetcode easy for a few days and you will see.

Is "From the River to the Sea" So Wrong?
2 or 3 coding interview, 1 design question and behavioral question. Design is tricky and you might get ETL design or distributed system or both. Scaling , availability and speed is more important when you design your system. Good luck.
