I have 9 YOE and recently got an offer from facebook (165/87.5/50). I interviewed for E5, but they offered E4 and said they see a lot of potential and expect me to get promoted really soon etc. How common or uncommon is it for folks with around 10 YOE to be at E4 level at facebook? How easy or tough is it to get promoted to E5?
I got E5 recently with 4.5 yoe. I think my interviews went incredible.
Congratulations!
I know one person in my team with 7 years exp in Cisco get E4
If you already have the skills of an E5, I'd expect it to take 6 months or a year to get promoted. If you do not yet have those skills, you can learn them and have a track record of using them in probably 2 years.
Great. Your comment infuses me with positivity. :)
You would not have gotten an offer if they didn't think you will grow to e5 soon. Coasting isn't a thing at FB
Normally working experience outside of US is discounted, except for global giant like msft
Your manager will be a college kids with 5 yoe.
Second that. And expect to work all the time
What's your current TC?
So, I am not in the US right now. Facebook did a massive hiring drive in Asia and I was selected as part of it. I don't think we can compare the salary as the comp scales are different.
When did Postmates assume you're in the US? Maybe you got E4 instead of E5 because you made assumptions like this in your system design round.
