For those at Facebook is the E6 hiring bar different across different teams and orgs? Generally speaking is the decision of E6 made by the interviewers or the hiring committee? Is 11 YoE enough for E6? TC: 240k YoE: 11
For general hire, there is no team.
This
11 yoe coming from not a tier 1 company doesn’t normally qualify for E6. That could be possible though if you spent last 5-6 years at Google and were at least L5.
E6 is a beast, many don't survive as E6 (including some Xooglers I know). Better to get E6 pay with E5 level
What do you mean by not survive? Are they let go or do they just not get promoted to E7?
Cool - Thank you all for the feedback! I’m not looking to join a general team. I’m looking to break into a very specific group in the Security organization.
Target pays that much?
My pay is proportional to my cost of living
Likely E5 would be best for you. Focus on compensation not level.
Yah I’m fine with that. I’m more interested in the role and what it has to offer in terms of growing and eventually leading.
Is “Team Lead” an official title at all?
No.

Do people underestimate E6 role at meta?
joint decision interviewers and hiring committee. 11yeo not a guarantee of level. their incentive is to level you in where you can meet/exceed expectations from your first half. so don't wish for too high a starting level. e6 to start implies team leadership from the start which is hard to do at a company where you're new.
