Facebook Enterprise Engineer

Heard from one of my FB manager friend saying that one of the FB VP is working on trying to merge EE to SWE or at least bring the comp closer. The reason of doing this is because EE has transformed largely in the last year and is doing almost the same work as SWE. Lots of new teams has been formed within EE and they are hiring aggressively across all levels while SWE E4 and below are paused. Also hiring a ton in all cities especially Austin where like ten new teams were formed. The major difference now is EE is doing software for someother enterprise and internal tool while SWE is doing external product. Any idea people?

EE people don't get paid the same as SWE because they couldn't clear the bar.

What’s the difference between EE and swe that works on internal systems? Seems like there are EE teams that are looking for SWE in job portal.

Not true in some cities because there’s no swe.

I think there is a confusion here on two different parts of EE. The product groups on EE (People Engineering -> People Products & Recruiting Products) are SWE (I'm one of them) and we are considered full blown SWEs, capable of working on any other SWE role in the company (and many of us move between public products and internal tools during our careers). We also get paid the same as other E's around the company. Other areas of EE (like office network facilities, tech support and the like) do have different roles and are not considered Software Engineers.

if you want to transfer to swe role, do you need interview loops again? Is it simpler than fb normal sde interviews?

OP, any updates on this?
