Facebook recruiter contacted me recently. Planning to start interviews with Facebook London. But wondering what FB pays to E5 in London. Does it make sense financially to go to FB London. Thinking if it doesn't make sense, I won't even put effort in interviewing. Current TC - 69L Level - L64
YOE?
Sirjee, first clear your interviews. FB London pays in peanuts. Standard 101k and on stocks there is 50% tax. If goal is to save money, it will not make sense. On the other hand, you join an Indian start up now or even a good company your base can go upto 70lpa. I know a guy who was L61 in ms and joined a startup with 50lpa as base and tc @ 78lpa
Tc 180-190k gpb is not peanuts my friend for uk. You are missing the other benefits and perks of being at facebook
I sure it is not peanuts. I like to exaggerate to make a point. But OP here is concerned about money and it is peanuts when compared to US counterparts.
Why do people keep running after money wll the time i dont get it, life is so much more than just money, can you really compare living in a country like India vs uk i.e near all good countries in europe, as per savings you should be able to save similar to what you save here if not more with clean air and much better quality of life given you dont depend too much on hired help.
The standard E5 offer is 101k £, 260k $, 15%. To go higher, you will need a significant competing offer. But sign on is easily negotiable. Savings wise it might not make too much sense right now, but considering the refreshers and growth Fb can provide, it could be significant in the long run.
I have seen people moving from Uber India with salary of INR 1 Cr to Fb London for 170 GBP.
On 101k + 15%, you get close to 10k a month. Tax is about 4k a month and monthly expenditure about 3k. You'll save 3k GBP or 3L INR a month. Apart from this you get approx 2L a month worth FB shares after tax. You save 5L INR a month. Bonus: 1. Hopping distance to the best traveling destinations. 2. One of the best places to work. (Debatable). I heard London has a better WLB. 3. Stronger profile for the next switch, even to India. 4. Better standard of living.
OP, it depends what you value. If you want to save some money and move back to India later then no harm in coming over here. However, if you wants to stay in London then the amount of money you save is not much in terms of purchasing power.
Yoe ?
OP, how was the interview? I also have an interview at FB london coming up soon
Hey did the interviews happen?
They definitely pay lot more than MSFT.
Might not be true outside USA. In India, Microsoft can match/beat Amazon and Google for 63+ roles. But, refreshers are bad same as USA.
