I am working with FB recruiters to interview for a Director PMM role. I may also look at other roles that are Sr Manager. I would like to get some comp benchmarks for negotiation (levels.fyi is very light on data at this level). From searching other threads, the data that surfaced was: M2/L7: 600-700K D1/L8: 1M+ Wondering if this is accurate for PMM, or whether it’s only for Engg roles? Does this apply to new hires? (By comparison, I’ve heard L7 PM at Amazon is 250-450K. and L8 is 500-800K).
PMM gets paid a lot less than eng and pm. Is it PMM in marketing? Or in GMS?
Interesting, thanks. PMM in GMS. Does GMS vs Marketing make a difference? Is one better/worse? Organizationally, it seems that a lot is in flux with PMM.
They’re very different roles and skill sets
Btw L7 SDM(Sr Software Dev Manager, usually a manager of managers) at Amazon is 450k+, scope is probably equivalent to FB L6?
That doesn’t surprise me. But PM definitely is not 450K+ at L7 (unless you’re including appreciation).
PM is a very different role than SDM or director and I’m not even sure if there is a L6+ PM role existed
It will definitely be less than Eng.
What is Engg M2 and D1 for new hires? Any idea what PMM will be?
M2 will have TC around 700k, D1 around 1M, but bands are wide at M1+ and depends a lot on competing offers , interview performance, importance of role (random M2 vs targeted hire). My could-be-totally-off prediction for PMM would be 450k for L7 and 700k for L8.
Way less then PM/ Eng
Pretty rare that we would interview someone for both director and sr manager roles. Is director a stretch? Pmm makes less than pm makes less than eng. Biggest difference is the grant size. Are you interviewing for the ads pmm team or consumer?
Different recruiters - could be that I’d have to choose but right now they’re running parallel tracks. Ads team not consumer. Director isn’t a stretch from my background and recruiter feedback; there just aren’t that many roles open; I just sold my company so I’m on the market now (got a family so no sabbatical for me).
Ads pmm director is a good job with large scope. There are nuances for individual teams. The open role is working with a team that has very high standards. Having some technical chops, scaled infrastructure, and a/b test experimental design experience will help.
PMM makes way less than eng - I would be shocked of GMS PMM directors get $1M. My guess is $700K max.
As rule of thumb is downshifted 1 level vs PM, at least that’s what I’ve heard for Dir PMM...sound about right?
By law, you can ask the recruiter comp range and should. Please share with this group if you do! :)
Are they required to tell you the RSU grant range?
Any updates on pmm l7 TC?
Did anyone else get an offer? Would love to hear the numbers?
