Facebook Production Engineering Manager

What is it like being a production engineering manager? Would you manage a bunch of production engineers who focus on a single product? I’m wondering how performance review would work. Would it be based mainly on other people’s feedback or based on goals? How are the goals set? Does each production engineer create their own goals or are the goals passed down from leadership?
