I hardly use Facebook these days and was thinking that it's a particular demographic that is not much active on FB these days. However, looking at the below report, even teens are moving away from it. Don't think it will ever get back its lost popularity. https://techcrunch.com/2022/08/11/teens-abandoned-facebook-pew-study/
Good riddance. Shit company, run by shit leadership, providing a shit product that encourages divisiveness, propagates conspiracy theories and fake news, creates insecurity and anxiety in its users. Best thing I ever did was delete my account.
It’s being replaced by TikTok though, which I think is even worse in those regards (insecurity/anxiety specifically).
I read the article about Gen Z developing neurological issues and tics from TikTok, and was truly horrified.
FB is not going anywhere. Its like the settled mainstream social media that everyone eventually ends up in to stay in touch. (Not cool for the new gen of course, because what mainstream thing was ever cool)
Hardly any metamate can see the reality when it comes to Meta itself
There has never been a “settled mainstream social media” in history. Facebook wont be one either.
The Metaverse isn’t here yet, and unless it’s going to come out in the next few years, there’s little hope that Meta will regain the number of users from its glory days. Tiktok and short form video content is and will continue to be the most popular content form until something else takes the spotlight.
Nextdoor is next thing
You really think so? Why? Can u explain?
Forgive my ignorance. I am looking up Nextdoor.
Teens haven't abandoned FB. They were not on FB to begin with. And the reality is the opposite what the article is saying (i.e. their number on FB is increasing) though time spent is nowhere near TikTok.
The article isnt saying teens are leaving facebook either…
The metaverse is literally The Matrix, except we opt into it and pay a bunch of money for it? Stupid idea. My guess is it will find a porn niche and replace OnlyFans but not make enough to be worth the investment cost. Teens will continue to adopt platforms their parents don't use, and eventually TikTok will be the next Facebook with waning users while some new app replaces it.
Thats not at all what the metaverse it haha. The metaverse is the next logical iteration of the internet. It's immersive rather than something you look at. It's not vr.
It's very interesting that folks think companies are just outright lying in earnings.
Not sure about companies but there's a popular belief that FB is.
A popular belief like the one from 30 years ago that sugar is good for you but fat is bad...
This is not necessarily a bad thing. If you look at social media in China, people started with qq, then wechat, now chinese teenagers are moving back to qq. Feels like a big driver for what social media young people use is to not be on the same platform as their lame boomer parents. Facebook needs to think about its plans when instagram is filled with 40yo people whose kids do not want to be on the same platform. Metaverse is definitely not the answer though :)
Literally the only thing I use FB for anymore is a birthday reminder
Facebook is 💩 and Instagrams lunch is being eaten by TikTok. The Metaverse sounds f*****g stupid.
The metaverse is awesome and every tech company is developing it. It's fine to root for meta to not be leading the effort as you clearly dislike the company but the metaverse is awesome.
You will clear the screen eventually, just keep practicing
