After all the scandals, teens using it less, news feed empty etc... Do you feel good about your career and workplace? Considering joining but want to hear from insiders first.
Feeling overly invincible maybe? Honestly I feel a lot of people feel FB got unfairly persecuted but weathered it very nobly and with great leadership so far. Like a misunderstood prophet of goodwill lol. Individual koolaid levels will vary tho.
Prophet? Thats over stretching truth

Moral is great: we feel determined and we have good work ahead of us
Morale might be good, but I'm pretty sure moral is objectively shit.
Interesting how many people seem to think the blame was undeserved
> teens using it less, news feed empty... And where do you think that engagement is moving?
it doesn have to go somewhere else. It's not 0 sum game.
He meant instagram
It’s still a great company, great profits, popular products, and founder driven roadmap. Only concern I see is we’re getting too big too quick.
Why is that a concern?
Pure cancer. But cancer grows and spreads most of the time.
Like Google?

Did the recent events change anything?
I get the feeling most people at FB are going to already be well aligned with fast and loose attitudes towards privacy. And they certainly have a point, FB services are not necessary for a normal life. Also, I think most of the revelations are an attempt at getting all the bad press and legally actionable things out of the way before GDPR rapes them. The fact GDPR exists should be a wake up moment for people at FB, Google, and similar that MANY people don't share their values about data privacy. Now the flip side is things which do bear a degree of necessity or expected utility of a device (consumer purchas). Android and various Google apps are going to bite Google. It is a normal expectation that a smartphone can provide GPS navigation. That makes it less reasonable for Google to location track you and shove targeted ads at you. This is similarly why the things FB did are getting such negative attention. Nothing about the opted in services from FB need my SMS history. Utility and cross contamination (using data volunteered for an obvious purpose for a different one) is what people should focus on. Lastly, a lot of the revelations and going ons about data privacy are people figuring out they were being swindled. You buy a used car and it turns out it left the lot with thousands $ in problems, and the salesman is like "you gave me your money, I gave you the car". They both have an argument they're right because their morals and ethics differ. Same thing as every good con artist gets people wanting to bring their money to them (eg Madoff). The tech industry thinks they're Henry Ford styled pioneers when reality for most people might be closer to Haliburton or Wells Fargo.
