I had my IC5 loop for Facebook about two weeks ago and overall did well. Figured I botched one of the coding second questions and wasn't sure on the design interview so wasn't really shocked to hear I have a follow up, 1 code and 1 product architecture. Not worried about the code but what is expected for product architecture? What are good things to hit? I felt a little lost on the direction I needed to go. It wasn't system design so nothing to do with scale.
Did you have only one design interview for your onsite?
Yes.
How was the follow up and preparation for it?
No prep. I thought I did really well but it wasn't enough so they went with e4. No idea what I could have done better.
Interesting. I have a prod system design too in a few weeks and really hard to know what to expect and how to approach it. Did you feel the advice on here helped?
can you share what was your product architecture/design question?

It is very similar to system design except you need to write apis and explain more of the product feature design.
How deep? Saying the rest calls and types enough? Then just how the interact? IE the Instagram product might have a posts api that needs get, post, maybe patch? Do you need to do more depth like pagination and caching?
Yeah. It’s more like what calls need to be supported by the product. So if pagination comes up how will u support it. So just the api and how will that api support the functionality that you have envisioned. I’d say just practice the system design interview and you will be good. The just drill down a little bit more into product functionality.
