Hello all, I need help, I run a small retail company and have a inhouse marketing team but they don't seem to be engaged enough in their own business. I need help directing these young guys in generating campaigns and helping grow our reach. Can someone direct me on what are the best tools to help develop our streams ? And no I'm not a baby boomer just a gen x that needs help and direction. I don't want to have to use a outside agency that talks a lot but knows very little ! Any advise will be appreciated!
what about an agency that talks a lot and knows a lot? I'm in the midst of wrapping things up (amicably) with my current job at a digital marketing agency, but my colleagues know their stuff.
Sounds interesting who are they ? Thanks
There are so many hacks today that are "marketers". Everyone is a marketer (not). Engage with a consultant on a short term project. If they work out they should make you 2-3x more than you are paying them. Extend based on performance. The good news dump them if they don't get results.
I agree with this - short-term consultant option, with option to renew and a fair performance based incentive/compensation system.

Fire your inhouse the best marketers are performance based
Learn marketing/growth yourself so you can actually tell when someone is good or not. You sound like a scumbug micro-manager type that wants to horsewhip your team, but has no idea what you're doing yourself.
Thanks for your opinion ruckus but your wrong ! My team and I work at it together and we are pretty tight expect for the one person that sold us a bullshit line about his abilities and didn't deliver ! The team wanted to post on here to see what the opinions would be. Thanks for your non informative input!!
If you have account managers that don't care about the company bottom line, then fire them and conduct exit interviews. Then on the next round of people you hire, think hard about how to train and motivate your employees and fix some of the things on the exit interviews. Are there structural or communication reasons your team isn't engaged? Does the team feel like their compensation was too low and they don't want to support you as a company? Are they not innovative-type people and you need to hire people with a track record of innovation?
The best tool is to fire your in house team that you said isn't "engaged enough in their own business." Tools won't right that ship
Thanks and you are right ! That's written into the plan moving forward
