Long story short, I failed an onsite last year then half year later, a recruiter reached out to me asking if I’m interested to talk about another role. (Different track than the one I failed). So we kept the conversation and I eventually got the verbal offer and numbers. A day later, recruiter called and saying they can’t move forward because it turns out the role is the same as the one I failed, and because of their 1 year rule, they can’t move forward with an offer. However, she said there is still chance for special approval. Since then, I kept following up and the recruiter would just say ‘oh, I don’t know, let me follow up with the team and see what they think. ‘ It’s been a month and I need to contact internal recruiting people and ask for a final resolution which is still pending now. FB friends, is there a general email like recruiting@fb.com something like that? Or if there is any other channel that I can try? Appreciate any suggestion! TC: 300k level 5 non-eng
Facebook hiring practice is quite unique. I have a friend who got called 1 week before onsite to cancel because they stop hiring.
Recruiter messed up. You shouldn't have been called on site. If we reject someone they can't reinterview for 1 year (6 months if you were borderline). No exceptions that I know of.
Yep, recruiter said it’s because system error... but it was a complete waste of my time.
That can’t be universal for all roles, right? That restriction is for the same job family I’m guessing?
Sounds like roundabout bullshit
Totally!!! So pissed!
Can they move forward with the offer when 1 year is up? Isn’t offer valid for 1 year at facebook? It would mean there a re couple of months in which you are no longer within 1 year rule bit still with valid offer? I know that sounds weird but ao is what they did to you.
Threaten to sue them..
I thought about it, but then it means the bridge is totally burned.... Lol...
Hey I failed the new grad SWE onsite last year. Recruiter reached out to me last month perfectly aware that it has been 9 months since I had interviewed. Now I have cleared phone screen and on my way to onsite. Does that mean I am fucked? What should I do- should I ask the recruiter directly??
Did you end up getting the offer?
No wonder stock just dropped a quarter of it's value.
