Maybe it's just me but I opened Facebook UI after years to list an item to sell. But the UI feels so outdated, it has everything and nothing at the same time. Instagram has limited features maybe that's why the UI seems bearable. But Facebook seems like a clusterfuck of everything. There is no sense of separation. Example - In marketplace I kept getting popups for dating. Have they actively stopped working on the UI? Or is this how modern UIs are? I mean Airbnb looks good, Amazon is a massive app but still it performs the basic functionality. Facebook on the other hand, feed is a mixture of groups posting to sell an item. Is no one actively posting on this website anymore? Has Facebook turned into a social ebay/craiglist? #UIUX #web TC - 170
Facebook UI is one of the worst of the big techs
Facebook went with the same approach Amazon did. Add more menus in settings each time a new feature is released.
Happens internal and external
You don't like the UI solely based on engagement and not quality of product? Huh will take this under advisement
I don't like the clutter. I mean I don't know what I want I am not a UI developer but this seems like we are going backwards. What I am saying is very subjective. I am trying to understand. Are these modern UIs?
No clue if it's modern... What happens when a measure becomes a target
Designers say white space and containers that load slowly are what the Youth want. Youth want a FB app that is sometimes broken and janky. We build for the youths.
Where's the option for it sucks but zuck is trying to make it better and is just incompetent? Thinking Zuck wants to kill fb, where the vast majority of his net worth comes from is stupid.
Very hard to build a ui that works for 3b people accessing it from a variety of devices and connections. If you can help strike a balance between massive accessibility and cutting edge design you should join!
As I said I'm not a UI developer. I feel the UI needs to be functional but it needs to be beautiful too
Ideally yes of course. But if you have to pick between enabling an extra billion or two people or having beautiful design meta would pick function. Metas mission is to bring the entire world closer together so needs to work for everyone. It's a very hard problem and great designers will continue to work on it. Hopefully it can improve.
Most people around me who are active on FB are > 45 yo these days. My friends around my age (early 30) or younger are not active on FB anymore. Maybe FB UI looks outdated because the user base is older?
This seems anecdotal. Because fb still has 2-3 billion active users so they all can't be old they have a good amount of young users too.

How privacy conscious are you?
Machine learning says this UI is good, so suck it up 🤣
I still think it’s ui is at least better than the one for prime video 🤮 I’m skeptical if that thing says 4K that it’ll still only be low bit rate garbage.
You mean zuck it up?
