2 yoe SWE Tried Google/Fb Apm/rpm but the no of candidates in these programs is too low. Most PM roles require some PM experience. What is the fastest way for a SWE to become a PM in Tech?
Build your own product
Why would you ever want to do this. Pms are bottom feeders.
Why is there such hate for the PM role in the Blind community? Surprising coming from a Msft guy since Msft has the highest PM to Dev ratio in the industry.
I think Blind is heavily dev-dominated and lots of folks are frustrated with workplace tensions due to less than ideal arrangements
Even I wanted to do the same but PM job is mostly BS. Engineer has to give lot of input for their work and it's really easier for the engineer itself to do that instead.
Program manager or product manager?
Unlike the rest of the comments, I think moving to Product Manager is a good idea. The work is mostly just BS/coming up with ideas, while engineers go the actual work of implementing the idea to reality. So sounds like a pretty good deal to just BS for the same pay!
techladki thinks they can do anything on their own. BS talk. Why do you need any other role? Let’s fire CEO/COO/CFO and any org that not engineering.
Why do u want to go there? Those roles are crap.
Maybe if you had good PMs, your company would be doing better.
Getting paid same as Swe but only BS ing and letting engineers do the work sounds amazing!
