Looking to leave finance, trying to replicate fund TC as soon as possible in something more technical and impactful. I know I’ll have a lot of people skills and project skills to grow, but I’m pretty confident it’s doable (and trying to set myself up for success) I’m considering Meta mostly since they seem to promo the most aggressively, but is E6/7 consistently trusted outside Meta? Google and Amazon seem too slow, Apple ICT5 is a black box. Netflix, Snap, Uber etc I’m unsure of in a slowing growth environment but their L6+ seem very reachable. Some of the unicorns are intriguing, except Databricks may be too overvalued. I hear Stripe has lowered their bands, and TikTok 3-1 is impossible without Chinese. What other reputable/high scale companies and paths are there? WLB doesn’t matter, only growth potential. TC: 💸 (don’t want to distract from convo too much)
I like the $$$ but the work is not interesting. Not in a HFT/performance team. I want to work on more impactful problems that touch the real world, not just move numbers around.
your desire to avoid distraction is ... distracting. but i do appreciate the airline metaphor (similie?)
Wow!
Pay the blind tax.
Cmon doesn’t hurt to put your TC.
Tech won’t hire you as anything higher than L5. Your skills aren’t transferable.
Square L6 is a good stepping stone to true L6. Comp is pretty good too
How to get square l6?
Interview with Square and pass the interview and get a team match
You talk about Meta, Google, Apple and Amazon as if you are comparing Emirates, Qatar, Swiss Air, Etihad, etc 😀 👌👌👌👌
If FAANG is like business class Etihad, Citadel is US Air Force airlift. Higher capacity and reliability, but the experience leaves a lot to be desired. Trying to find the Emirates suites of the tech world though.
